Photo Story: Ore. Firefighter Stabilize Building After Crash

Aug. 2, 2015
Portland firefighters used struts and shoring to stabilize the structure.

Two people suffered minor injuries when a car crashed into a Portland story Saturday afternoon.

Crews from Portland Fire & Rescue found an SUV wedged inside the Plaid Pantry store on 28th Avenue NE.

They provided medical aid to the driver of the SUV and a male worker at the store. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life threaten injuries.

The USAR team was called to help shore up the building.

A rescue strut was deployed to keep the structure stable while the vehicle was removed from the building.

USAR crews utilzied additional equipment to create a temporary support structure before returning to service.
