San Rafael firefighters pulled the man from a balcony during a two-alarm fire.

A Santa Venetia man was rescued uninjured by San Rafael firefighters after an apartment caught fire Wednesday morning.

The fire, in a second-story unit at the La Brea Apartments at 15 Labrea Way in unincorporated Santa Venetia, just east of San Rafael, was reported as a structure fire at 8:59 a.m., San Rafael Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters arrived moments later and declared a second alarm, Deputy Chief Bob Sinnott said.

Dalis VanderYacht, in the neighboring unit, was rescued uninjured from his second-story balcony. There were no injuries in the fire.

The fire was contained within 15 minutes, Sinnott said.

Pacific Gas and Electric officials arrived on scene to secure utilities, Sinnott said.

Novato and Marinwood firefighters, California Highway Patrol and Marin County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.
