One Los Angeles firefighter fell from the roof, the other from a mezzanine.

Two firefighters suffered non life-threatening injuries during two separate fall events at a major emergency fire Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the 1300 block of Newtown Street around 7:40 a.m. and found fire coming from the one-story building housing a metal fabricating business.

Crews used a defensive attack on the fire, which took about 40 minutes to contain, LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

He said one firefighter feel about 12 feet from the roof suffered minor injuries.

Another firefighter fell an unspecified distance from a mezzanine during overhaul operations.
