Ala. Firefighter Dies of Injuries from Crash

Lynn Firefighter Charles M. Tucker, 56, was returning from a fire when the wreck occurred.

An Alabama firefighter died April 2 of injuries sustained in a crash returning from an incident.

Lynn Firefighter Charles M. Tucker, 56, was injured March 30 when personal truck veered off the road and hit an empty logging truck.

He and his son, Austin, 16, a junior firefighter, had assisted Lynn crews with a grass and woods fire in Winston County.

The two were pinned in the truck, and had to be extricated. Both were flown to a trauma center in Birmingham. 

The cause of Tucker's death is pending an autopsy. 

This brings to 18 the number of firefighters who have died on duty so far this year.
