PA Deputy Chief Stricken in May, Dies of CVA

After responding to two calls on May 3, Garrettford-Drexel Hill Deputy Chief Michael Morgan fell ill.

Morgan, 48, died June 26 of the apparent stroke he suffered last month.

Reports indicate that after he started feeling ill, he rested at his firehouse before heading to his shift at Delaware County Emergency Communications Center, the USFA reported.

When his condition worsened, he was transported to the hospital.

Morgan's death brings to 31 the number of firefighters to die on duty this year.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, on Wednesday, June 29, at the Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA.

A Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at St. Dorothy’s Church, 4910 W. Township Line Rd., Drexel Hill, PA.

Internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
