Update: Two BLM Firefighters Killed in Crash Identified

Another firefighter was seriously injured in the crash.

A crash on a Nevada highway has left two firefighters dead, and another critically injured.

Jacob Omalley, 27, the driver, and Will Hawkins, 22, the right-front passenger, were killed, while Zachery McElroy, 23, was injured.

He is expected to recover after treatment Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight.

The Nevada Highway Patrol are trying to determine if a tire failure caused the wreck. 

The trio was returning from duty in the Denio area when the crash occurred on NV 140. They were headed to Winnemucca, according to Steve Clutter, BLM spokesman.

"Our hearts are heavy, but our focus, our thoughts, our or prayers are with the families of these extraordinary brave people who served to protect the people of Nevada and the public lands of that belong to all of us," Clutter said in a statement.
