Funeral Set for DE Firefighter Killed in Fall from Chopper

Lewes Firefighter Tim McCanahan fell while participating in hoist training.

Funeral services will be held this weekend for a DE firefighter killed during hoist training with the Delaware State Police.

Lewes Firefighter Tim McClanahan fell from a helicopter Monday night while participating in a drill. He fell from an undetermined height.

Another firefighter and a medic aboard the helicopter rendered immediate medical care. However, he could not be revived.

Viewing will be held from 6-9 p.m. July 16 at Parsell Funeral Home, and from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at Cape Henlopen High School.

A funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school.

Departments are asked to bring only one apparatus due to space.
