NJ Firefighter Suffers Heart Attack Battling Blaze

He was one of several overcome by heat battling the Englishtown fire.

The sweltering heat took a toll on NJ firefighters Monday morning as they battled a blaze in Englishtown.

One of the five firefighters suffered a heart attack, officials confirmed.

Crews were fighting a fire at a hair-dye manufacturing building about 8 a.m., when the injuries occurred.

Monmouth County Fire Marshal Rick Hogan told reporters the firefighter who suffered the heart attack was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. He is recovering.

Three firefighters were taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold for heat exhaustion.
