PA Trooper Saves Woman From House Fire

July 28, 2016
Again and again, Trooper Jonathan Bailey rushed into the house to search for the victim.

A state trooper repeatedly ran into a burning house in Carbon County on Wednesday afternoon before he found an older woman inside and led her outside to safety, police said.

Trooper Jonathan Bailey rushed to the house at 277 Patten Circle, in the Albrightsville area of Penn Forest Township, at 12:30 p.m. on a report that someone might be trapped in a house fire, state police at Fern Ridge said.

Again and again, Bailey ran into the house, through flames and thick black smoke, before he found the woman in the living room area of the house, police said.

The woman, whose name police did not release, was still conscious when Bailey guided her outside.

The woman and her relatives were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of smoke inhalation. Bailey was treated for smoke inhalation at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.

Also assisting on the scene were Troopers Joseph Urban, Christopher Tomlinson and Jeffrey Kreidler.
