House Fire Leaves Four Dead in MA

Sept. 25, 2016
Officials believe three adults and one child died in the Greenfield fire.

A child is believed to be among four killed by an early morning house fire in Greenfield.

The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. in a 1 1/2-story home on Meridian Street.

"Crews found heavy fire on arrival and attempted to gain entry into the building but the fire was too intense and they were forced out of the structure," according to a post the Greenfield Police Department's Facebook page.

State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey believes the victims are three adults and one child, according to local newspaper The Recorder.

Ostroskey said the Greenfield police and fire departments will work with his office and the state police to determine the cause of the fire.
