MO Firefighter Dies After Being Found Unresponsive

Sean McMullin, 46, was found unresponsive at West County EMS & Fire Station 2 on Saturday.

A 14-year member of West County EMS & Fire in Ballwin died Saturday after being found unresponsive in the station. 

Firefighter/Paramedic Sean McMullin, 46, was on-duty at Station 2 when firefighters him found unresponsive at 12:50 p.m. 

Members of his crew began lifesaving measures, but were unable to revive him.

"Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect their fellow citizens and willingly give all they have for our residents. Sean did that and more each and every day of his career," Chief Ernie Rhodes said in a statement. "He was a dear friend to his brothers and sisters here at West County EMS & Fire, and so many others in the fire service. He will be unmeasurably missed."

McMullin leaves behind a wife and four children.

"During this incredibly painful time, please keep your fellow brothers and sisters in mind. As a family, we are here to stand side by side, support and love one another, however that may be," the department said in a statement.

Funeral services have been announced.

Visitation will be held Sept. 28, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Cottleville, MO. A uniformed member walk through will be held at 7:30.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sept. 29 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Road, Cottleville, MO. 

Burial will follow at Saint Philippine Catholic Cemetery, 4057 Towers Road, St. Charles, MO.

The department has asked that no fire apparatus is needed for the procession.
