Clackamas Fire District #1 pulled a victim from a burning structure in Oregon City and administered ALS.

Clackamas Fire District #1 pulled a victim from a burning structure this morning. The crew had responded to the Clipper Ridge Apartments in Oregon City after 9-1-1 call from a neighbor who smelled smoke. The first-arriving engine company found fire coming from a second-story bedroom and went into fire attack mode, while the next-in truck company split their crew and sent two firefighters to the roof to ventilate and the other two to search.

The fire was quickly knocked down, but during the search the victim was found in the second bedroom near the fire room. The patient did not have a pulse. CPR was started as crews began ALS in the parking lot. Medic 3 was on scene and quickly brought their stretcher to transport the patient, once he was stabilized, to Emanuel Hospital. Medic 3 firefighters reported that the patient did regain a pulse during transport and was beginning to breath on his own when they arrived at the hospital, but was still unconscious.

No other victims were found. Investigators are on scene to determine a cause. The fire was contained to the one apartment.

This is the third fire victim pulled from a structure fire in the last five weeks by Clackamas Firefighters. One on the morning of Sept. 11 and the other on Oct. 13. Both fire victims have been released from the hospital. There were no working smoke alarms in any of the three residences.
