Assistant Chief, 53, Found Dead at WI Fire Station

The assistant chief of the Eldorado VFD was found dead at the fire station on Jan. 10, hours after a meeting.

The assistant chief of the Eldorado Volunteer Fire Department was found dead at the fire station on Jan. 10, hours after a meeting.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, a firefighter found Assistant Fire Chief Rodney “Tiny” Menne, 53, at 2 a.m. deceased from an apparent heart attack. The USFA has provisionally listed the event as a line of duty death.

According to his obituary, Menne had been a member of the Eldorado Volunteer Fire Department since 1989 and a past fire chief from 1996 to 2007 and in 2016 retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections Dodge Correctional as a Captain. He also worked part-time at the Rennert Fire and Sales.

The obituary also reported he was a charter member, since 1994, for the Eldorado First Responders and held leadership roles in county EMS and related associations.

He was survived by his daughter, a brother, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
