All 18 Yonkers fire companies responded to the fire in a four-story building.

A blaze that ripped through a large Yonkers building required all of the city's firefighting resources to bring the fire under control.

The fire was reported in a four-story former mill building that's now occupied by artist lofts and businesses around 4 a.m. Monday.

According to News12.com, the fire department's alerting system malfunctioned and did not alert some of the companies.

Fire officials told the TV station that it did not cause a significant delay.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire on three floors of the former Alexander Smith Carpet Mill building when they arrived.

All 18 companies responded to the general alarm fire, which caused a partial collapse of the building.

Firefighters remained on scene for most of Monday hitting hot spots.
