May 18--A Dallas fire apparatus was on its way to a call Thursday when it was involved in a multivehicle wreck.

NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports that the engine was responding to a structure fire at about 11 a.m. when it was struck by a Chevrolet pickup that did not yield the right of way at an intersection.

The apparatus then collided with a Kia sedan that was stopped at a red light, pushing the smaller vehicle across three lanes of traffic until it came to rest between a telephone pole and the emergency vehicle.

Two firefighters were transported to a hospital as a precaution but both were later released, according to officials.

The driver of another vehicle was transported to a hospital with injuries that were said to be not life threatening, according to NBC.

Authorities said the engine caught fire in the crash, but the blaze was quickly extinguished.
