GA Firefighter Dies Hours after Shift

Battalion Chief John Chester was a 26-year veteran of the Whitfield County Fire Department.

May 22-- The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the line of duty death of Whitfield County Battalion Chief John Chester, who died Thursday at a hospital following a shift.

The USFA said in a release Monday that Chester died several hours after answering an emergency response call during his normally scheduled shift. The cause of his death was not announced.

The 56-year-old, who was a 26-year veteran of the Whitfield department, is survived by his wife Genesis "Genny" Chester and children John Chester V, Cherie Chester, Jacob Chester and Olivia Chester.
