AR Firefighter Dies Following Response Call

Randy Ray Treat died Saturday following a call with the Kingston Rural Volunteer Fire Department.

The US Fire Administration has announced the line-of-duty death of a veteran Arkansas firefighter who died following a response call.

Randy Ray Treat, 71, was on a call Saturday with the Kingston Rural Volunteer Fire Department when he fell ill and became unresponsive. He was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, where he died from injuries which are yet to be determined, according to an obituary on the website of the Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Treat spent 33 years in the fire service, was a retired Battalion Chief with the Springdale Fire Department and served as a Captain in the Arkansas National Guard. The retired agriculture teacher, who held a Master's degree in Education, was serving as vice president of the Jasper School District Board at the time of his passing.

Treat is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley, two sons, a daughter, five grandsons and three granddaughters.
