Sept. 18, 2017
Three people were killed and 17 injured when a city bus and a charter bus collided in Queens.

Three people have been confirmed dead and 17 others injured after a New York City bus and a private tour bus collided Monday morning.

CBS New York reports that the crash happened at about 6:18 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Northern Blvd. in the Queens neighborhood of Flushing.

Seven of the 17 people injured were said to be in critical condition after the collision sent one of the buses into a building, trapping the driver and causing a fire.

The FDNY tweeted that firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but it was unknown if anyone was missing or still trapped inside the building.

Authorities said they were canvassing the area for witnesses and looking at surveillance video to determine the cause of the wreck.
