A New York City firefighter suffered minor injuries Sunday when a man involved in a multiple-car collision in Manhattan tried to steal a fire apparatus.

NY1 reports that FDNY crews had responded to the scene after multiple vehicles collided near 10th Ave. and 43rd St. in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood around 12:30 p.m.

Footage captured at the scene by a Twitter user shows an unidentified man in a green t-shirt standing on the step leading up into the cab of the apparatus who appears to be shouting at several firefighters. The man then hops into the cab while the firefighters quickly dash into action to remove him from the vehicle.

The chaotic incident is currently under investigation.

Eight people were injured in the wreck, according to the FDNY. Three people were said to be in serious but stable condition, while four others suffered minor injuries.
