Driver Killed in Crash with TX Fire Apparatus

Dec. 14, 2017
Two firefighters from the Cash VFD were injured in the crash that resulted in a vehicle bursting into flames.

Police are investigating the cause of a crash involving a pumper from the Cash Volunteer Fire Department Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. in on Texas 34 in Hunt County.

Texas Department of Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel told NBCDFW.com that the pumper swerved to avoid hitting the car that pulled in front of the apparatus.

The impact of the collision caused the car to catch fire and the pumper to flip over onto the officer's side.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene.

Two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
