Firefighters Battle Fire in NC Church

A firefighter suffered a broken arm when shingles fell from the roof of the Rose Hill United Methodist Church.

A firefighter suffered a broken arm during a blaze that destroyed an historic Rose Hill church. 

Several fire departments were called to battle the fire reported at the Rose Hill United Method Church around 8 a.m.

WTCI12.com reports four departments were needed to contain the fire that engulfed the structure built in 1920.

Fire officials told WRAL that shingles falling off the roof broke the firefighter's arm.

"The church is not a building. It is a people," Pastor Christopher Vogle told the television station.
