Two people escaped the two-alarm house fire in Danbury.

Crews encountered a frozen hydrant while fighting a fire at a retired firefighter's Danbury home Sunday.

The fire broke out in the lower level of a Cape Cod-style home on Fleetwood Drive around 5 p.m., according to WTNH.com

Firefighters had to find another hydrant after the first one they tried to use was found to be frozen.

Two people escaped the two-alarm fire and officials are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
