Two Hannibal residents are uninjured after firefighters rescued them from a burning home early Sunday morning.
The Hannibal Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 4101 Red Devil Road on Jan, 7. The time of the call was 4:22 a.m.. The Hannibal Fire Department responded with one aerial apparatus, two engine apparatus, one rescue apparatus, one command vehicle, two administration vehicles and 12 total firefighters to this call. Two of the 12 total firefighters were called in to assist with this fire.
Initial fire crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the east side of the structure. Fire crews contained and extinguished the fire within 25 minutes of their arrival. The Hannibal Fire Department was on scene until 7:34 a.m. completing salvage, overhaul, and investigation operations.
Other agencies on scene with Hannibal Fire Department were Marion County Ambulance District, Hannibal Police Department, Hannibal Board of Public Works, Ralls County Sheriff's Department, and Ralls County Electric Cooperative.
The structure was occupied by two occupants at the time of the fire. Hannibal Fire Department rescued the occupants who were asleep in the structure. The occupants sustained no injuries. The home did not have any functioning smoke detector at the time of the fire, according to HFD Chief Sean Hampton. The structure sustained light smoke damage throughout and heavy fire and heat damage in two rooms.
The Hannibal Fire Department investigated this fire and the cause was ruled accidental electrical.
