The 2017 Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Award was presented to Corey D. Lane from the City of Loveland, CO, Public Works Department at the Fire Department Safety Officers Association’s 30th Annual Apparatus Specifications & Safety Symposium, Monday in Scottsdale, AZ.

The EVT of the Year Award is co-presented by the Fire Department Safety Officers Association and Firehouse, and is sponsored by Spartan Motors.

In presenting the award to Lane, Brian Connely, national sales manager of Spartan Motors, said, “Throughout the course of his 22-year career, Corey has demonstrated a level of superior expertise and diligence in ensuring the safety of firefighters and the maintenance and service of his department’s 23 heavy fire apparatus.”

In the letters nominating him for the award, Lane’s chief and colleagues focused on his “passion for providing service to Loveland Fire Rescue” and his 24/7 commitment to keeping the Loveland fire fleet safe and current on inspections and repairs. Two years in a row, the LFRA fleet availability was over 98 percent. “…this can only happen having the right person leading the charge, that person is Corey Lane.”
