Firehouse.Com & Safe Kids Campaign Announce Special Partnership

Firehouse.Com News

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National SAFE KIDS Campaign and Firehouse.com the World Wide Web’s community and resource for firefighting, EMS, rescue and safety, today announced a special partnership.

"Firefighters are an integral part of SAFE KIDS Coalitions so we’re thrilled to be able to offer our resources to the thousands of firefighters and emergency service personnel that regularly log onto Firehouse.com" said Heather Paul, Ph.D. Executive Director, of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. "We hope this partnership will encourage even more firefighters to be a part of SAFE KIDS in their local communities."

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign’s mission is to prevent the number one killer of children - unintentional injury. By working at a national level with Firehouse.com and through grassroots State and Local Coalitions, SAFE KIDS will now be able to better educate adults and children, provide safety devices to families in need, and work to pass and strengthen laws to empower families and communities to protect children ages 14 and under.

"With the power and diversity of the Internet, it is the intent of Firehouse.com and the National SAFE KIDS Campaign that this new partnership will be successful in bringing the issues of child safety and injury prevention to the attention of community-based groups, parents, youth, firefighters and all public safety personnel not only around the country, but across the world as well", said Dave J. Iannone, a veteran firefighter who founded the site several years ago. Continuing to place information about safety and injury prevention at the forefront will help promote an understanding of the effectiveness of injury prevention programs offered by SAFE KIDS.

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign will often be featured throughout the Firehouse.com Web site and have its own section in the site's 'InfoZone' which includes segments on research, legislative and safety issues. Child safety experts will be available to provide regular educational content material and for online forums and chats. There will be a hyperlink to the SAFE KIDS Website for additional information, if and when necessary.

In addition to the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, Firehouse.com has alliances and partnerships with top safety and industry leaders such as ICHIEFS (the International Association of Fire Chiefs), the National Volunteer Fire Council, the Congressional Fire Service Institute, the United States Fire Administration, the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, to name a few.

Firehouse.Com launched in December 1998 and has since been a leader of news and information delivery for the emergency services on the Internet. The site supports hundreds of thousands of visitor sessions monthly from around the world and has received acclaim for its interactivity and comprehensive coverage of issues related to the industry. Firehouse.com is a subsidiary of Cygnus Business Media, a CommerceConnectMedia company.

The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first and only national organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury - the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. More than 285 State and Local Coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico comprise the Campaign. Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, M.D., Sc.D., is chairman of the Campaign. For more information, visit www.safekids.org.
