President Sanders stated, "The response from the Greater Cincinnati community has been tremendous. We are fortunate to share the generosity of Cincinnati with the families of our fallen brothers and sisters in New York City. Whether it’s a $1 bill or a $5,000 check, whether it’s a fill-the-boot drive or proceeds from the sale of flags, whether it’s pennies from a child’s piggy bank or buckets of coins collected at a school, the Greater Cincinnati community has been there for Cincinnati fire fighters, and we are deeply appreciative of their generosity."

To date, the International Association of Fire Fighters has collected over $64 million dollars for the New York Fire 9-11 Relief Fund. The families of the 344 fallen fire fighters and other emergency workers have already received 2 separate checks for $10,000 each (the first as soon as 2 weeks after the September 11th tragedy). On Monday, November 19, another check for $25,000 will be sent to the families of our fallen brothers and sisters in New York City. The New York Fire 9-11 Relief Fund incurs no fees for bank services, no fees for lawyer services, and no administrative costs. President Sanders further states, "Cincinnati fire fighters take great solace in knowing that 100% of the donations collected go directly to the families of the fallen fire fighters and EMS personnel in New York City."
