San Jose, CA -- Fire Rescue West, the West Coast's leading fire, rescue and emergency services conference and exposition, has added speakers and sessions addressing terrorism, preparedness and response to its comprehensive, three-day program. Fire Rescue West 2002 will take place February 12-14 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.

"The events of September 11th have made a profound and lasting impact on the way the fire and emergency services respond to calls for service," says Robert Brice, show manager. "Fire Rescue West is addressing this 'new reality' by offering the vital education and training required to face these new challenges and to better prepare for the future," adds Brice.

The Target:Terrorism track at Fire Rescue West offers over 20 vital education and training sessions, with specific focus on topics ranging from weapons of mass destruction response tactics to successful grant writing, from tactical EMS at scenes of violence to detailed lessons-learned from the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be on site to conduct workshops on applying for the $360 million FIRE Act grant being awarded to fire departments across the nation. They will discuss what worked - and what didn't - in grant applications during the first year of the new program. They will also explain the changes that can be expected in 2002, the simplified application process and basic grant writing guidance.

The Fire Rescue West exhibit floor will complement these sessions with the latest offerings in firefighting apparatus, personal protective equipment, respirators, urban search and rescue gear and hundreds of other all-hazard products and services.

Fire Rescue West is the West Coast's leading annual emergency service conference and trade show. It attracts more than 5,000 fire service professionals including fire chiefs, chief officers, company officers, training officers, firefighters and emergency service personnel from both public and private disciplines.

Fire Rescue West will take place February 12-14, 2002, at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. For complete conference information or to register for Fire Rescue West, visit www.firehouse.com/frw or call 800-827-8009.

The event is produced by Cygnus Expositions, a division of Cygnus Business Media, a CommerceConnect Media Company. Cygnus also publishes Firehouse Magazine and produces Firehouse Expo, held annually in Baltimore, Maryland.
