The funding for the permanent World Trade Center memorial could be managed by a federal committee comprised of local officials, a congressman said yesterday. Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said he may propose legislation to create a national memorial trust similar to what was done in Oklahoma City to honor the 1995 bombing victims.

"It seems like right now it hasn't been set up harmoniously," said Nadler.

At issue is the fact that the National Parks Service, which maintains the Oklahoma City memorial, struggles with funding.

Creating such a committee for the WTC site would allow the feds to match private donations to build and maintain the tribute.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bloomberg said city officials decided to wait "about two more days" to make sure it's safe for recovery workers to enter the mold-ridden Deutsche Bank building on Liberty Street to search for victims' remains.
