Peterson Winery Releases Zinfandel to Support CA Preparedness Efforts

March 7, 2019
The sales of Resiliency Red will benefit Northern Sonoma County’s Citizens Organized to Prepare for Emergencies (COPE).

Peterson Winery announces the release of Resiliency Red, their fourth Zinfandel to fund fire relief and preparedness efforts. Located at Timber Crest Farms in the Dry Creek Valley, Peterson Winery produces special-labeled Zinfandels to raise funds and awareness for a variety of fire-related causes. The first wine in the series celebrated the Geyserville Fire Department’s centennial and raised funds for the department.

The second, benefited the relief fund for firefighters affected from the horrific Valley Fire in Lake County in 2015, and the third wine sales supported the California State Firefighters’ Association. With so many devastating wild fires over the last three years,

Peterson Winery shifted the focus to supporting prevention and preparedness efforts. The sales of Resiliency Red will benefit Northern Sonoma County’s Citizens Organized to Prepare for Emergencies (COPE). The mission of COPE is to encourage residents, families and neighborhoods to become and remain better prepared to respond to and recover from emergency situations. This grass-roots group was started by residents of the Santa Rosa Community of Oakmont 10 years ago, in cooperation with the Santa Rosa Fire Department and the American Red Cross. After the 2017 wildfires swept through and destroyed sections of Sonoma County, taking many lives and destroying thousands of homes and businesses, the value of COPE organization became very obvious.

“Our goal is to raise funds and awareness for COPE, as they continue their outreach to educate and organize manageable neighborhood teams to respond and share information during an emergency,” said Fred Peterson, owner of Peterson Winery. “As a volunteer firefighter, I witnessed first hand the need for swiftly disseminating information during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire as it swept through Santa Rosa. Our hope is that Resiliency Red will help us meet our goal.”Resiliency Red is available at the Peterson Tasting Room or through the Peterson website. All profits benefit Northern Sonoma County’s COPE programs.

Resiliency Red 2016 Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 85 cases produced $33/bottle.
