    For the first time in its 59-year history, the USO dispatched performers to put on a show in the United States. The USO troupe visited the Clear Creek camp and performed a show called “Catch A Rising Star,” featuring a former Miss Maine, a former Miss Arkansas and a former Miss New Jersey. It was a standing-room-only performance.

    These photos were taken during the Clear Creek incident involving the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Idaho in 2000. At the time, there had been very little rain, and flames were being fanned by high winds day and night. The daytime humidity was as low as 8%
