WOONSOCKET, RI, MARCH 15, 2014 – Two firefighters fell through the floor and were able to stop their fall with their arms. They gave Maydays and extricated themselves before the arrival of the rapid intervention team. The roof collapsed during the three-alarm fire.

LANSDOWNE BOROUGH, PA, DEC. 31, 2013 – An early-morning automatic fire alarm was quickly upgraded to a working fire when the 911 center received a call from a resident reporting she was trapped. Police and EMS arrived to find a woman trapped on a roof of a three-story dwelling with fire on the first floor. The woman jumped from the roof prior to the arrival of the fire department. She and a second woman were admitted to a hospital with serious injuries. The fire originated on the first floor, extended to the second floor and heavily damaged the home. Eight engines, four ladders and a heavy rescue responded.

HOUSTON, TX, MARCH 9, 2014 – The resident of this fully engulfed house in Houston’s South Union section died in an early-morning blaze. The fire was reported with the possibility that a person was trapped as neighbors said the resident was virtually assured to be at home if his truck (in photo) was in the driveway. Houston Fire Department crews attempted to enter to search for the resident, but had to resort to defensive tactics early as the home quickly became an inferno.

DETROIT, MI, MARCH 2, 2014 – Two bad hydrants forced this firefighter to wait for water as the fully involved vacant dwelling behind him extends to an occupied dwelling next door. This was the third fire in this neighborhood in 45 minutes and responding companies came from a long distance. Fire was brought under control in 90 minutes.
