This month's Hot Shots features Houston, TX, firefighters exiting the roof after completing vertical ventilation operations that allowed the crew from Engine 67 to find the fire and knock it down.

Riverside County, CA, June 21, 2019 – The Jerry Fire burned through the Moreno Valley and required over 275 firefighters assigned 10 hand crews, 27 engines, one dozer, three helicopters and one air attack resource. Pictured is the crew from Riverside County Fire Department Brush 19 early in the fire that consumed 525 acres.

Johnston, RI, May 12, 2019—Firefighters encountered a well involved two-story home on a dead-end street with no hydrants. Firefighters used tank water in an effort to contain the fire, but it was too advanced. Water was supplied using a tanker shuttle and Smithfield firefighters established a water supply by laying 3,000 feet of large-diameter hose through a wooded area to the closest hydrant.

Slingerlands, NY, June 19, 2019—One person died when flames tore through a two-story, eight-unit apartment building. The North Bethlehem Fire Department was dispatched around 2 a.m. and encountered heavy fire calling for additional help as firefighters worked to protect adjacent structures. Eleven additional fire departments and numerous EMS agencies responded to the scene.

Houston, TX, June 6, 2019—Firefighters from Houston Ladder 67 exit the roof after completing vertical ventilation operations that allowed the crew from Engine 67 to find the fire and knock it down. The arson fire was reported around 11 p.m. in a one-story wood-frame dwelling.
