Flames from the Noble County natural gas pipeline explosion shot 80 feet high in the air Monday, and firefighters from three area departments battled the fire caused by the blast.

An Ohio natural gas pipeline explosion Monday injured at least one person and damaged three homes as firefighters from multiple fire departments battled secondary fires in the area.

Reports concerning an explosion in Noble County came in just after 10:30 a.m., and fire departments from Summerfield, Caldwell and Lewisville responded to the explosion, WTAP-TV reports. First responders said they could see flames shooting in the air around 80 feet high, and residents who lived as far as seven miles away could feel their homes shake from the blast, according to The Daily Jeffersonian.

"Pictures came off the wall, and (the house) shook for about 15 seconds, but it felt like forever," Trina Moore, who lives in nearby Caldwell, told the newspaper.

The injured man suffered burns from the fire caused by the explosion. He was taken to the hospital, and his identity and condition have not been released.

Four roads around the pipeline also were closed because of the blast. Homeowners in the area are being helped by the Red Cross, Noble County Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security and other agencies, according to WTAP.

Enbridge owns the pipeline, and the Canadian energy company has response crews working with first responders to make sure the pipeline is stable, the Jeffersonian reports.
