CA House Burns for Second Time in Two Weeks

Dec. 11, 2018
The first fire at the home in Vista in late November displaced nine people before it caught fire again on Monday.

Less than two weeks after a Vista home caught fire and displaced nine residents, the house — which was vacant and boarded up — caught fire again, authorities said Monday.

The second fire was reported about 11:20 a.m. Monday, Deputy Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol said.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming out of multiple windows of the single-story home on Primrose Avenue, off Lobelia Drive north of state Route 78.

Firefighters went inside the empty house and fought the fire, keeping it contained to the home. It took about a half-hour to get it under control, Vander Pol said.

He said the sheriff’s department’s Bomb/Arson unit is investigating the fire. The unit is also digging into the cause of a fire at the home on Nov. 28.

That fire also happened in the late morning; it was reported about 11:30 a.m.

The nine people living in the home were able to get out, unharmed. The home was deemed uninhabitable, and the utilities were shut off.
