Six OH Departments Tackle Asphalt Hopper Fire

Firefighters from Stark and Wayne counties extinguished the commercial blaze within an hour Friday morning.

BAUGHMAN TOWNSHIP — A half-dozen local fire departments, coming from both Stark and Wayne counties, battled a fire in a commercial asphalt hopper Friday morning in the 18000 block of Fulton Road, just east of Marshallville.

According to a news release from the North Lawrence Fire Department, the primary responding agency, the fire started around 10:50 a.m. Friday. Crews arrived on scene at 18228 Fulton Road and found flames coming from the first and second floor doors of an asphalt hopper.

Along with North Lawrence, firefighters from Orrville, Rittman, Chippewa Township, Canal Fulton and the East Wayne Fire District also responded.

Firefighters made quick work of the fire, and extinguished it within an hour.
