TX Crews Face Fiery, Ethanol-Carrying Train Derailment

April 24, 2019
A Fort Worth Fire Department command module also caught fire in an incident unrelated to the early Wednesday train accident.

Evacuations continued Wednesday morning in several neighborhoods after train cars caught fire after derailing, fire officials said.

No injuries have been reported.

The derailment occurred just before 1 a.m. just west of Riverside and E. Berry.

Several cars which contained ethanol caught fire, fire officials said.

Homes north and east of the crash site were evacuated as firefighters went door to door in the area. As of 5:30 a.m., evacuations continued in the neighborhoods.

A fire department command unit caught fire at the scene, but it was not caused by the train derailment, fire officials said.

Fire crews remained on the scene.
