A multi-alarm warehouse fire in Brooklyn injured at least five FDNY firefighters early Thursday.

The firefighters were taken to a local hospital, and their injuries were not considered life-threatening, FDNY Chief of EMS Lillian Bonsignore said in a statement. No civilian injuries were reported, she added.

Around 200 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the blaze at the large restaurant supply warehouse, Chief of Operations Thomas Richardson said. The fire broke out at about 12:30 a.m. at the two-story building, and it quickly was elevated to four alarms, the New York Post reports.

"The fire was deep seeded and difficult to locate," Richardson said in a statement. "In a large open warehouse with multiple aisle spaces, it’s difficult to maneuver a hose line to the location of the fire. … Due to safety concerns, we transitioned to an exterior attack with three tower ladders."

Firefighters had worked inside the burning building for about an hour, he added. FDNY aerial video footage showed crews tackling the fire, and crews were still at the scene at 8 a.m., according to the Post.
