OH Firefighters Battle Multi-Alarm Cabinet Company Fire

Aug. 17, 2019
The blaze at the Mil Tech building in Columbus quickly burned through the roof of the structure Friday night, but no injuries were reported.

Thick black smoke billowed from a multi-alarm fire Columbus firefighters were battling Friday night at an architectural mill work and custom cabinet company on the Near East Side.

Firefighters on the scene were attempting to control the fire from defensive positions outside the Mill Tech building at 364 Centab Drive on CenTab property, because it is too dangerous to enter the building, a Columbus Fire division spokeswoman said.

There are no immediate reports of injuries.

The fire was reported at 7:35 p.m. fully involved with intense heat and quickly burned through the roof of the building. Fire officials are reporting a van and a forklift inside containing fuel, and flames are near propane gas tanks in an area outside but adjacent to the building. For those reasons, firefighters have been told to back away from the burning structure while maintaining water on the flames.
