Two people were taken to the hospital with severe burns from a blaze that spread through a three-story house early Saturday.

Two people were hospitalized with severe burns after a fire tore through their Wakefield home early Saturday, authorities said.

The blaze erupted on the first floor of the three-story house on Wickham Ave. near Bussing Ave. just after 5 a.m.

Firefighters rescued one resident who was trapped on the second floor. The second victim was able to escape the inferno before emergency responders arrived, the FDNY said.

Medics rushed the two victims, which included a 59-year-old woman, to Jacobi Medical Center with serious burns. The woman suffered burns to her back and arms, officials said.

The flames were put out within 45 minutes, officials said. Fire marshals were at the home Saturday afternoon still trying to determine what sparked the fire.
