Raw video shows Tualatin Valley firefighters battling the Beaverton apartment blaze, which destroyed the building but was stopped from spreading to neighboring structures.

A Beaverton fourplex was destroyed early Thursday in a two-alarm fire, authorities say.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said the Southwest 17th Street blaze was reported shortly after 2:30 a.m. The fourplex was eventually destroyed, and 11 people were displaced.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the two-alarm fire started, authorities said, but a fire investigator was at the scene early Thursday. The blaze burned while lightning and thunder raged in the area.

Authorities didn’t know early Thursday whether the buildings had working smoke alarms. They didn’t have residential fire sprinkler systems.

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to nearby buildings, authorities said.

There are no known injuries. The American Red Cross is helping some of the displaced residents.
