DETROIT—Five Detroit firefighters are in the hospital after suffering injuries at a house fire on Thursday, Oct. 3, The Associated Press reports.

The house, which is in the area of Whittaker and Mullane Street in southwest Detroit, is believed to have been vacant, according to a report by Detroit Fox 2.

Three of the firefighters were inside the house when its upper level caved in, said Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell. At least two others were affected by smoke inhalation and are being treated.

It is unclear how serious the injuries are, but everyone who was in the house when it collapsed was able to escape, Fornell told The AP.

The fire continued to burn after the collapse, Fox 2 reports.
