Three firefighters were hurt as they climbed out windows to escape the flames that spread through the burning home Tuesday.

Four Minneapolis firefighters were hurt battling a three-alarm fire Tuesday that spread through a two-story, single-family house.

Three of the firefighters suffered injuries while escaping a flashover on the second floor of the burning house, KARE-TV reports. As the flames spread, the firefighters climbed out a window and onto the roof.

A mayday was issued when one of the firefighters couldn't be located, but all three firefighters eventually were accounted for following the evacuation. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries, according to KARE.

A fourth firefighter also was hurt and taken to the hospital, but that individual's injuries were not connected to the flashover and window escape, the TV station reports. Three of the four firefighters taken to the hospital were released.

No residents were home when the house caught fire. The family's dog, however, could not be located.
