Three Massachusetts firefighter were hurt while battling an eight-alarm fire early Monday that had 16 departments responding.
The blaze at single-story commercial building in Natick broke out at just before 1:30 a.m., WCVB-TV reports. A print shop, Chinese restaurant and a Christian Science reading room were housed in the 13,000-square foot building, which was built in 1900.
Because of the building's extensive renovations, firefighters had trouble navigating inside. Crews trying to find the cause of the fire in the basement had to pull out because of dangerous conditions.
“When we made it into the basement we kept running into different walls and couldn’t find the seed of the fire,” Natick Fire Chief Daniel Dow told The Metro West Daily News.
One firefighter injured an arm fighting the blaze, and two others were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital, WCVB added. No other injuries were reported.
