A house in Clarksville caught fire Tuesday, displacing a mother of two. Firefighters are collecting school supplies for her children to replace those lost in the blaze.

A southern Indiana firefighter was taken to the hospital after a ceiling collapsed on him while battling a house fire Tuesday.

The blaze broke out just before 7 a.m. at a home in Clarksville, WLKY-TV reports. Flames had engulfed the house by the time crews arrived.

As efforts were made to put out the fire, a firefighter was injured by a falling ceiling.

"When they were pulling the ceiling, the ceiling collapsed on the firefighter, but his teammates were able to get that ceiling off of him, and he was rescued safely," Clarksville Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs told WLKY.

The firefighter was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and later released.

No other injuries were reported. The fire displaced a mother of two, and some firefighters are collecting school supplies for her children, WLKY added.
