MS Firefighters Injured in Possible Arson

Two people safely escaped the burning auto shop in Jackson early Monday, and investigators believe the fire was set intentionally.

Two Mississippi were injured by a collapsing roof while battling a possible arson at an auto shop early Monday.

Jackson fire crews responded to the blaze at the Rod's Auto Mechanic Shop at about 3 a.m., WJTV-TV reports. Two people who had been inside the shop when it caught fire were able to escape.

While trying to put out the flames, a roof canopy fell on the two firefighters, according to the Clarion Ledger. Both firefighters were taken to the hospital, and one was released, WJTV added.

Details concerning the nature of the firefighters' injuries was not released. Fire officials are looking into the cause of the blaze, and investigators believe the fire was intentionally started, according to WJTV.
