Raleigh firefighters were battling a blaze that broke out at home Friday when the hose was dropped and began flailing about.

A North Carolina firefighter lost control of a hose while battling a house blaze Friday but was able to capture it and continue dousing the flames.

Raleigh crews responded to a fire at about 9 a.m., WNCN-TV reports. At the scene, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the house's gable vents.

The home's residents were inside when the blaze broke out, but they were able to escape the flames without injury. The fire did cause "significant damage" to the house, and its cause is still being investigated, Fire Chief John McGrath told WNCN.
