"...They saved my life," Boy Says of Norwood, OH, Firefighters

March 14, 2024
Firefighters rescued the unresponsive child from a Norwood house fire in 2022.

"No words can say how much I'm grateful and thankful for these guys. They saved my life.”

That's what Grant Pachuta had to say about the Norwood firefighters who rescued him from a house fire and initiated CPR.

The Pachuta family visited the firefighters at the fire station to thank them for their life-saving efforts two years ago, WLWT reported.

For these reluctant heroes, their brave act was just another day on the job.

While his siblings and parents made it out of the house on their own, Norwood crews went in to search for the boy. They found him unresponsive.

The firefighters share a special bond with Grant and his family.

"That is our job. That's what we're here for. We do our job well and that's why we come to work,"  Firefighter Liam Shanahan said.
