Man in Critical Condition After Single Car Rollover in Western Maryland

Saturday, March 20, 2004, Funkstown Fire Company (Co. #10) and Community Rescue Service (Co. #75) were dispatched out at 2:23 AM for a reported vehicle accident on U.S. Route 40 just east of Beaver Creek Road.

Saturday, March 20, 2004, Funkstown Fire Company (Co. #10) and Community Rescue Service (Co. #75) were dispatched out at 2:23 AM for a reported vehicle accident on U.S. Route 40 just east of Beaver Creek Road.

Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle accident. The car was off the roadway and appeared to have rolled several times before coming to a rest in a wooded area.

The first arriving unit from Funkstown Fire Co. #10 immediately placed Command in effect and advised Fire & Rescue of a single vehicle accident with a Priority 1 Entrapment. Maryland State Police Aviation Medivac (Trooper 3) was immediately started at the request of Command.

Crews on scene were able to extricate the patient with in approximately 15 minutes of their arrival time on scene. By this time, Trooper 3 was hovering over the incident.

Paramedic 75-3 from Community Rescue transported the patient by ground to Washington County Hospital with the assistance of the Paramedic off of Trooper 3.

At last report, the patient was listed in critical condition.
