Working Structure Fire in Lindenhurst, New York

On Saturday March 4, 2006 the Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department responded to a working structure fire at 1st Street and Hoffman Avenue.

On Saturday March 4, 2006 the Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department responded to a working structure fire at 1st Street and Hoffman Avenue.

The first chief on scene advised smoke showing. Bay Rats Engine 1-6-6 was first due with minimal smoke pushing from the building. However, once inside, Dukes "Neutral Corner" Pub, the hoseline off by 1-6-6 encountered heavy fire. After approximately 5 - 7 minutes of operating inside the building, a flashover occured injuring two firefighter with minor injuries. It was at that point that the fight turned into an exterior operation.

Mutual aid was requested from North Lindenhurst, Copiague, West Babylon, Babylon, East Farmingdale, & North Babylon to the scene. Wyandanch & North Amityville were requested for units to stand by.

Two firefighters were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
