Winslow Township, New Jersey Bravest Battle House Fire

On December 26, 2003 at 1520 hours, the Winslow Township Police dispatch started to receive 9-1-1 calls for a house fire on Leanne Drive in the Sicklerville part of the township.

On December 26, 2003 at 1520 hours, the Winslow Township Police dispatch started to receive 9-1-1 calls for a house fire on Leanne Drive in the Sicklerville part of the township. When officers arrived they found a 1-1/2 story cape cod style house well involved. Officers on scene reported that the residents were not at home and that there was ammunition going off inside the structure.

The first in engine from Sicklerville dropped a 5" supply line and went in service with a 2-1/2" to knock down the fire. Crews then went in service with 1-3/4" handlines. Sicklerville, Cedarbrook, Waterford and Tansboro fire companies responded from Winslow Township. Waterford Township responded as a F.A.S.T. unit.

The fire is still under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal and the Winslow Township Police Department.
